Napa Tour Overview

Discover the 173-year old history of the 1000-acre Chiles Valley District Estate while experiencing a behind the scenes tour of the Maxwell Estate Winery, ranch and caves from a four-passenger 4WD vehicle or single passenger ATV. This is the only winery in Napa hosting a custom toured ATV winery experience

Learn about the legacy of Joseph Ballinger Chiles, the first American pioneer to bring settlers to the Napa Valley over the Sierras by wagon train. Your private motorized tour of the 173-year old 1000-acre estate will make stops in their vineyards, beautiful private lake and travel over 4 miles of hillside trails to the peak of the Maxville estate. Photo opportunities are endless especially backed by unique panoramic views of the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges, only seen from a vantage point high in their hills.

A tasting of their elegant estate wines conclude the tour accompanied by a selection of gourmet cheeses and charcuterie and stunning views of Maxville Lake and the Chiles Valley Palisades. Advanced reservations required.

Guests – brief tour of the building with History of the 1000-acre estate (part of original 8000 acres granted by Mexican Government to Joseph Ballinger Chiles in 1841) guests will get a glimpse of the true “beginnings” and history of the Napa Valley.

3:30pm – 5:30pm

ATV and 4WD Mule Tour of the 850-acre “ranch”, vineyards and private lakeside. (note: there are currently 6 ATV’s for use by guests) others can ride with Maxville guide in a 4WD “mule” Tour will take you up into the historic Chiles Valley hills, through the vineyards, past live cattle while offering vistas of the Mayacama, Vaca and Blue Ridge Mountains.

The tour will finish with a stop at Lake Maxville for more photo op’s and a cheese and wine pairing of their 2015 Sauvignon Blanc.

6:00pm – 7:00pm

A walk through the 15,000-square foot underground caves with conversation about oak aging of their estate wines.
Walk through the winery production facility on route to the dining room
for a Food & Wine pairing overlooking our beautiful lake from their “outside-in” dining room.
