If you’d like to take a trip to Tuscany closer to home then the award winning Andretti winery is the place for you. Located in the heart of Napa Valley, it was founded back in 1996 by Mario Andretti and longtime friend Joe Antonini. And even though the winery takes its name from one of the best race car drivers of all time, it actually flows at a much slower pace. The winery is reminiscent of an italian village with beautiful grounds and charming atmosphere. This holds true for the wines they serve as well. While most of Napa lean more towards french-style wines, Andretti is unique in their delicious italian varietals. Notable is their flagship San Giovence that you’ll definitely want to try. It’s no secret that we love Andretti Winery. (So much so that we’ve included it in our series examining what are the Best Wineries of Napa Valley).
Andretti is uniquely situated in what is known as the Oak Knoll Region of Napa Valley. This area offers a more moderate climate compared to the cooler Carneros valley and warmer northern regions. This makes it an ideal location for their Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. The climate mixed with quick draining soils delivers fruit-forward and intensely-flavorful grapes. These are ideal for tasting on the spot or storing away in a cellar for added complexity.
