Dann and Susan met while attending Stanford University before moving to Issaquah, Washington to raise their two children. They like to say they “flunked retirement” when they purchased the Boeschen Vineyards estate in St. Helena in 1999. Dann is now devoted to many hobbies, including vintage cars and woodworking, while Susan, a Master Gardener, is involved in the community and manages the estate gardens.
According to local lore, the estate house and barn were built circa 1880 by a prominent businessman for his mistress. The property was subsequently the home of a Russian princess, a prune and walnut orchard, a camellia nursery and a Christmas tree farm. In many ways, this history shapes the overall identity of Boeschen Vineyards; our approach is Old-World, with the wines reflecting a classic structure and tradition.
