Mermaid Valley Vineyard

Nestled amidst the picturesque mountains just beyond the outskirts of San Diego, Mermaid Valley Vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate characterized by abundant sunshine and refreshing coastal breezes. This idyllic setting provides the perfect conditions for cultivating premium wines. Established in 2013 by the visionary duo Kim and Scott Flinn, the vineyard witnessed the planting of over 3,000 vines in 2014, culminating in its inaugural commercial harvest in 2016. Embracing a climate reminiscent of the southern Rhone region of France, Mermaid Valley Vineyard predominantly features Rhone varietals among its grape varieties. Boasting a 100% estate-grown and produced label, the vineyard achieves an annual production of 700 cases.

Scott, having completed the University of California Davis Winemaking Certificate Program in 2017, has become a maestro in the craft, fashioning a series of award-winning wines. Notably, the 2018 Siren’s Song, a captivating Rhone-style blend incorporating Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, clinched the prestigious double gold distinction, securing the titles of Best Blended Red Rhone and overall Best of San Diego County at the esteemed 2022 Toast of the Coast Wine Competition. Further enhancing their accolades, the 2017 Late Harvest Zinfandel, a luscious dessert wine, earned a double gold in the 2020 competition.
