About Monterey County
Monterey County combines cool-climate wine country with one of California’s best coastal getaways. You can taste near the vineyards or keep things easy with tasting rooms around Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Monterey Peninsula. Standard Monterey wine tastings are often around $20–$30 per person, with higher-end seated or reserve flights costing more. It is an easy region to pair with a coastal weekend, especially if you want great wine without building the entire trip around wineries.
If you are staying near Carmel or Monterey, start with nearby tasting rooms and save the longer vineyard drives for a separate block of the day.
