About Texas
Texas wine country is big enough that the first planning decision is simply deciding where you want to taste. The state’s best-known wine tourism is concentrated in the Hill Country, but tasting rooms and vineyards can be found well beyond it. Standard Texas wine tastings commonly run around $15–$30 per person, with premium flights and food-paired experiences costing more. Expect a friendly, social atmosphere and tasting rooms that often encourage you to settle in rather than rush to the next stop.
For a dedicated wine day, choose a tight cluster and aim for three wineries. Weekend reservations are strongly recommended in popular wine-country areas, and some wineries require them. Leave at least 90 minutes between appointments so you have time to taste, buy a bottle, and get to the next stop without turning the day into a race.
